NCS Archive Staff

Through annual training sessions, we ensure that NCS Archive staff who have access to study data adhere to government regulations, policies and procedures governing human subject protection and privacy, and data confidentiality. NCS Archive staff sign confidentiality agreements and agree to the provisions of the NCS Data Use Agreement.

NCS Archive Registered Users

To access summary data, users must register (provide name, email address, and institution name), and acknowledge a confidentiality agreement. Users who submit a study for approval must complete training on and sign a data use agreement (DUA), promising to keep confidential all participant and associated personally identifiable data (PII) and/or personal health information (PHI) data, including provider and institution names. These users will report only summary data, and not report cell size less than 10 units/persons. Investigators and their staff must all sign a DUA. In addition, investigators may not attempt to identify participants or institutions for which they do not have PII or PHI available. Investigators may not send PII or PHI via non-secure methods, such as mail (including email) or telephone message. Penalties for violation of the DUA may have legal consequences.

NCS Archive Privacy Policy

The NCS Archive does not collect any PII about you unless you choose to provide that information. Any PII you chose to provide will not be shared by NICHD or the NCS Archive staff with any other organization or government agency except as required by law. Non-PII information on your visit to this website or to a third-party webite may be automatically collected and temporarily stored for statistical purposes. The information collected includes standard server log information such as your computer’s domain name or IP address, the date and time you accessed our site, the pages you viewed, the type of browser and operating system you used to access our site, and the external web site from which you followed a link to our site, if applicable.

The NCS Archive staff will not share personal contact information for investigators. Links and references for analysis results (journal articles, presentations, and posters) will be posted and made publicly available via the NCS Archive home page. Note that articles, presentations, and posters often contain contact information for investigators.

Security Protections

The NCS Archive public-facing website and summary data areas meet all FISMA low security and privacy protection regulations. The areas of the NCS Archive to which access to participant data are available meet all FISMA moderate security and privacy protection regulations.
